This past weekend’s West Central Activities Conference tournament saw the West Central Valley varsity wrestling squad finish in the top half of the team standings. The Wildcats had seven wrestlers place in the top four in their respective weight class, including two individual champions, for a fourth-place team finish at 133 points. Junior Weston Pote (138; 3:55) and senior Carson Wadle (182; 2:28) are the conference champions of their weight class and both won their championship match on a second period pinfall. Senior Justin Garcia (126) finished second in his bracket, seniors Cole Sacket (152) and Zac Custard (220) placed third, while freshman Dylan Wells (106) and junior Brayden Miller (152) finished fourth. The West Central Valley varsity wrestling team closes their 2018 competition season at Des Moines East High School tomorrow, grappling athletes from East, Hoover, and North. First matches are set for 5:30 p.m.
