12:22am: An officer located an Open Door and secured the business at 407 East Central Ave.

1:38am: A Traffic Stop was performed at Gallop and Mulberry Streets resulting in Connor Gunn of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

9:33am: A caller advised of a suspicious male in dark clothing near 205 West McKinley Street. He expressed concerns for teenage workers leaving the business at 2000 hours when the business closes. Officers will be providing extra patrol in the area during this time.

12:05pm: A female spoke to an officer about concerns that her juvenile daughter may be “Sexting” foreign males. The officer is investigating.

3:24pm: An officer investigated a Single Vehicle Property Damage Accident at 1000 West Lincoln Way Street. A 2017 Subaru Forester, owned and operated by Janet Meiners of Jefferson, was parked facing south in the Main Parking Lot. Meiners vehicle lunged forward, through the short block retaining wall, and off the edge of the parking lot. The vehicle came to rest on the sidewalk below the lot. The vehicle had a reported $5000.00 in damages. The retaining wall, owned by GCMC, had a reported $2000.00 in damages.

4:43pm: Casey’s reported a gas Drive Off in the amount of $12.00 from 508 North Elm Street. A plate was given to the officer. The officer contacted local authorities in the Jewell area. The Jewel officer made contact with the owner of the vehicle, who advised they would contact Casey’s and pay the debt.

4:45pm: Noraima Valencia reported the ATM machine at 106 West Washington Street shorted her when she withdrew funds from the machine. The officer advised her to contact the bank associated with the ATM.

9:44pm: An officer assisted a motorist with mechanical problems near 220th and Elm Streets.

******* Two local businesses reported receiving the “Bomb Threat” e-mail. The e-mail was circulated across the nation and Iowa yesterday to numerous business. It advises a bomb has been placed in your business and it will be set off unless you pay $20,000.00 to the sender. No loss was incurred by local businesses.

******* An officer has requested an Arrest Warrant for Tyler James Smits, 26 of Jefferson for, “Domestic Abuse Assault -Serious. The request comes from a reported Domestic Assault on 11/24/2018, at 304 West Reed Street.
