Friday, December 7th

12:53am: A Traffic Stop in the 1100 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Devon Kleinheksel of Churdan being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

3:06pm: Steve Hack advised of an argument and physical fight occurring in the yard at 808 West Monroe Street. The officer has spoke to those involved and charges are pending at this time.

3:23pm: Officers are investigating a Hit & Run Accident at West Washington and North Chestnut Streets. A 2008 Saturn Outlook, owned and operated by Arlene Hamling of Jefferson, was westbound on Washington Street. As Hamling traveled through the intersection of Washington and Chestnut Streets, a vehicle struck her from North Chestnut Street. The vehicle continued north on Chestnut Street and did not stop. Hamling’s vehicle was a total loss at $8000.00 in damages. A license plate was located at the scene from the other vehicle involved. The officer is working to identify the driver and gather insurance information for the other vehicle.

3:23pm: Brittany Richardson reported the same vehicle from the previous entry had struck her father’s vehicle and kept driving north on Chestnut Street. The 1998 Chevrolet S-10 is owned by William Richardson of Jefferson. It had been parked at 304 North Chestnut Street. The Richardson vehicle suffered a reported $1500.00 in damages. Grille parts located at the scene are consistent with the vehicle involved in the previous entry. The officer is investigating.

3:54pm: A caller shared concerns with an officer for the health of a dog at 403 North Cedar Street. The officer is working to speak with the animal’s owner and conduct a Welfare Check on the animal.

4:35pm: Jade Millage reported the possible Theft of a cell phone and tablet. She had loaned them to a friend, who now refuses to return them. The officer is investigating.

5:30pm: White Oak Station requested an officer at 303 North Elm Street for a female who was loitering in the business. The subject left before the arrival of the officer.

5:11pm: HyVee reported a Jefferson male, who was trespassed from the business at 106 West Washington Street, had gone into the HyVee Fast and Fresh Fuel Station. They requested the male be told he is not welcome at any HyVee property in Jefferson. The officer located the subject and advised him of this.

6:28pm: Mike Thomas reported a Speeding Vehicle heading towards Jefferson from the south on Hwy. 4. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

6:55pm: Mark Beckman requested officers to conduct a Welfare Check on a female in the 100 Block of East Central Ave. He advised the female was mixing alcohol and prescription medications and had been experiencing seizures due to her intoxication level. Officers arrived and could not get the female to respond to the door. The officer contacted the County Attorney and were advised to force entry into the residence to check on the female. They did so and EMS was called to the scene. The female was taken by Ambulance to ER.

7:05pm: Steve Hack requested an officer to accompany him to his rental property at 808 West Monroe Street to check the residence after a renter had been evicted earlier in the day.

7:15pm: Curtis Hoskins requested an officer at the Emergency Room. He suspects his juvenile son had been abused by his mother in Jefferson. DHS was contacted to become involved in the investigation.

Saturday, December 8th

7:47am: The Wild Rose Casino requested officers to conduct a Welfare Check on a female in the parking lot at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The officer made contact with the female, who advised of car trouble. She did not wish for any assistance from the officer.

9:18am: Joy Fox reported a stray dog near Cedar and Central. The officer did not locate the animal in the area.

3:03pm: Officers arrested Robert Kovar, 33 of Jefferson on an outstanding Jefferson Police Department Arrest Warrant for, “Theft 5th – Simple. The warrant was issued from an investigation into a shoplifting event at 508 North Elm Street on 10/27/2018. During the arrest, officers located suspected methamphetamines on Kovar’s person. The items will be tested and future charges are pending test results.

5:30pm: Ashley Wetzel reported witnessing a Child Abuse occur at 106 West Washington Street, inside the business. It was reported a father struck a child in the back of the head and the stomach. The officer is working with the business to find any video of the reported event. The investigation continues.

6:08pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 400 West State Street.

6:09pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 100 South Maple Street.

10:24pm: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Alex Husk of Coon Rapids being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

11:17pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and State Streets resulted in Jorge Canal of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Have a Valid Driver’s License.

10:58pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 505 West Lincoln Way Street.

Sunday, December 9th

6:13am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 700 Block of South Oak Street.

7:26am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 300 Block of South Grimmell Road.

8:55am: Alysha Dehoet reported Harassment by a known male on Face Book. She was advised to block him from her social media accounts.

5:54pm: Charlie Paniagua reported receiving Unwanted Text Messages. The officer contacted the others involved and advised them to end the contact.

9:12pm: A female advised she was not being allowed to leave her residence in Jefferson by other family members. The officers arrived and made contact with the subject, who was intoxicated. Family members advised the female had made comments about harming herself. The officer and a deputy took the female to ER to be evaluated by a medical doctor.

11:03pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 500 Block of South Locust Street. A2005 Volvo XC90, owned and being operated by Jennie Schuttler of Jefferson, was attempting to make a three-point turn in the 500 Block of South Locust Street, and backed into a parked vehicle. The 2017 Ram 1500 was owned by Wayne Shannon of Jefferson. Each vehicle suffered a reported $1000.00 in damages. Schuttler was issued a Citation for, “Unsafe Backing Upon a Highway.
