The ACGC wrestling team competed at the Riverside-Oakland Invitational Saturday. Senior Blaine Beeler reached the title round in the 120 pound weight class, finishing in 2nd place.

Beeler began his day with a 13-2 quarterfinal major decision over AHSTW’s Garrison Gettler. It didn’t take long for the senior to advance to the finals, after he secured a pin fall 34 seconds into his semifinal match against Riverside’s Dennis Pilling. Beeler faced off against Stone Sindelar of Papillion-La Vista South (Nebraska) in the finals. Sindelar edged Beeler for the title by a 3-1 decision. Beeler improved his season record to 9-3.

Sophomore Seth Danker (113) and senior Easton Benson (138) also finished in the top three in their respective weight classes. Danker received a bye into the semifinals before finding himself on the short end of a 13-1 major decision at the hands of undefeated Hagen Heistand out of Logan-Magnolia. Danker bounced back with one point decision margins over Papillion-La Vista South’s Liam Barlow and Clarinda’s Tyler Halloran to claim 3rd.

Benson took a similar route to the 3rd place finish. After losing by fall in the semifinals and winning by fall in the consolation semifinals, he defeated Papillion-La Vista South’s Ryan Needham by a 12-7 decision for 3rd place. Benson joins Beeler and Gabe Rowley as Chargers with nine wins this season.

Rowley, who came into the tournament undefeated at 7-0, finished with three consecutive defeats to fall to 9-3 on the year. The Chargers finished in 7th place out of 17 teams with 93.5 points. Next on the schedule is a home quadrangular on Thursday. Detailed results can be found below:
