A busy week of competition begins tonight on the road for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (4-1 overall; 2-0 RRC). The Tigers step out of conference for a matchup versus the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders (0-3 overall). What a difference a year makes as the Crusaders are the Tigers’ sixth overall opponent for a second straight year. Last season ADM was winless in their first five games, and this winter the Tigers have posted a 4-1 overall mark. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM Tiger head girls basketball coach Jacob Cleveland about the best part about his team’s fast start. He says it was the fact that the girls expected it. “I don’t think (the start) is a shock for our girls,” Cleveland said, “I’ve tried to instill in them from the beginning that we do things right, (and) we’re going to be successful. Our girls are competitive, they’ve been successful in other (sports), and we expect to be in every game.”

The Crusaders come into tonight’s game winless in three contests so far this winter, and all have been by double-digit margins. ADM won last year’s competition, 62-23, in Adel. The varsity game tips off around 7:30 p.m. from Coon Rapids-Bayard High School.
