A reminder to all aspiring basketball players in Dallas and Guthrie counties: the annual Elks Club Hoop Shoot contest is today in Perry.
Students age 8-13 in the Perry, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Panorama, and Woodward-Granger school districts are invited to test their free throw shooting skills for a chance to compete in the district, state, and national levels. There are three age groups, 8-9 years old, 10-11 years old, and 12-13 years old, with boy and girl divisions for each. Age groups are determined by the participants’ age as of April 1, 2019.
The competition is free to join, and will be held in the Perry Middle School gymnasium. The gym will open for practice at 1 p.m., with the contest running from 2-3:30. The six winners today will advance to the district Hoop Shoot on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake. If they win their division there, they will then head to Grinnell College on February 9th.
