A new program will start soon at Greene County Elementary School.

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) allows for fathers, uncles, grandfathers or other adult males to be in the elementary school as positive role models for students. They will also provide an extra pair of eyes and help teachers throughout the school day. Organizer Reverend Devin Wolters says volunteers are needed for everyday for the rest of the school year. He will be hosting a signup event tonight at the elementary school at 6pm for interested individuals.

Wolters tells Raccoon Valley Radio he will review what the details are for the volunteers and there will be a background check done for everyone. There is a one-time fee of $23.95 per volunteer and financial assistance is available. Free pizza will be provided at tonight’s registration event. Wolters is hoping to start next Monday.
