Fans of high school basketball will have a full evening of games tonight at Panorama Community Schools. The Panthers continue early-season West Central Activities Conference play at home against league newcomer Pleasantville. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with Panorama girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page about tonight’s unique setup of games. “Pleasantville’s old conference use to do this a lot because of the distance between schools,” Druivenga said, “I think they call it Super Basketball night where we’re having two JV games and two varsity games.”
Druivenga adds the junior varsity girls game starts the busy night of basketball at 4 p.m. The junior varsity boys game is scheduled to begin around 5:15 p.m. The varsity girls game is set for 6:30 p.m. and the boys’ varsity contest listed to start around 8 p.m. The Pleasantville Trojans and the Interstate 35 Roadrunners both joined the West Central Activities Conference during the 2018-19 school year after several years as a member of the Pride of Iowa Conference. The Trojan girls basketball team posted an overall record of 11-12 last winter, while the Pleasantville boys basketball team finished 17-6.
