Nathan Black started his first season of high school wrestling on Nov. 27 and it ended on Dec. 1. The freshman 145 lbs. Greene County Ram told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s having shoulder surgery today to repair an issue that’s been bothering him for some time. Black went 4-1 in his brief time as a varsity wrestler. He had the Rams’ highest finish on Saturday at the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustang Invitational, placing third.
Black hopes to be well enough by March to be on both the track & field and soccer teams for Greene County. He also plays football and the shoulder issue gave him problems throughout the 2018 season.
Coach Zach Beekman’s wrestlers had four top seven finishes at DC-G. In addition to Black, Clint Dennhardt was fourth at 182, Braden Gallagher placed fifth at 106, and Brady Stauffer was seventh at 138.
The Rams next action is Thursday at Gilbert.
