The annual Perry Toy Drive is continuing this week, and tomorrow people can enjoy some Perry athletics and support the cause at the same time.
The boys and girls varsity basketball teams are hosting Dallas Center-Grimes tomorrow night for a doubleheader, and during both games the Perry Booster Club will host a toy drive. Everything gathered will go towards the Toys for Tots program operated by New Opportunities of Perry and the U.S. Marine Corps. Organizer John Andorf says they can most use toys for older children, as they are often forgotten when people are selecting toys to donate. The program aids families in gift giving for boys and girls between newborn and 14-years-old.
Andorf says they will accept either new unwrapped gifts during the toy drive, or cash donations which will be used to purchase toys where there is an insufficient amount of donations. The cause was aided recently by the Perry Fareway, which held a round-up fundraiser before Thanksgiving that netted $905.33 for Toys for Tots.
