To encourage Greene County area kids to get their Christmas present wish lists to Santa Claus this year, a community committee in Jefferson has come up with a unique idea.
Christmas Committee Chair Angie Reese-Heuser says a special mailbox is located near the entrance to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson. From now through December 23rd, kids can drop-off their letters to Santa in the mailbox. “Santa will have a helper or somebody to come and pick up those letters and get those to him. And if we get those letters to him, he has promised us that he will respond.”
Reese-Heuser points out that Santa will respond to those letters with return mailing addresses on them. She adds that the letters don’t need stamps when kids drop them off in the mailbox. Kids can also give their letters to Santa the night of the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 6th at the Welcome Center.
The committee is made up of individuals from the Thomas Jefferson Gardens, Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Friends of the Jefferson Public Library and Greene County Chamber and Tourism.
