A Guthrie County neighbor, a nonconference rival, and another out of conference foe are among the list of opponents the West Central Valley varsity wrestling team will host in their season opener tonight. The Wildcats start the season against grapplers from AC/GC, East Union, and Nodaway Valley in a quadrangular event in Stuart. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network had West Central Valley head wrestling coach Ben Strandberg as a guest on Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. Strandberg said the Wildcats have a home-heavy start to the dual season. “(We’re) kicking off the year with a home dual and then turning and then having our senior night on Tuesday,” Standberg said, “We’re bang-bang right out of the gate at home, and we want to get as big of a crowd as we possibly can.”
Tuesday’s Senior Night event is a West Central Activities Conference triangular versus the Panorama Panthers and the Van Meter Bulldogs. The West Central Valley varsity wrestling team opens the dual season with three matches tonight in Stuart. First grapples are set for 5:30 p.m.
