The ACGC girls basketball team will be looking to keep their undefeated streak alive, and notch another program first back-to-back victories, when they host the Madrid Tigers on Friday.
Unlike the Chargers, Madrid got their season off on the wrong foot with two consecutive losses. The Tigers fell on opening night at Martensdale-St. Mary’ s, 35-41 and at home against Southeast Valley Monday night, 50-64. Senior Shelbi Raymond leads the Tigers in points, averaging 11 in the first two games. Classmate Kyra Troendle leads the team in rebounds with 13. Despite shooting just over 28% from the field in their 0-2 start, the team has connected on 20% of their three-pointers.
Three-point shooting is one aspect ACGC couldn’t connect on in their 40-31 opening night victory over the Audubon Wheelers last Monday. The Chargers were 0-10 from beyond the arc, but shot nearly 40% from the field. ACGC will also have to improve their turnover margin Friday, as they committed five more in one game than the Tigers have in two.
ACGC has dropped three straight against the Tigers, falling by 15 in their most recent matchup in Madrid. Senior Jadeyn Carrick led all Chargers with 16 points in that 33-48 defeat. You can hear the game live on KKRF2 and RacoonValleyRadio.com with tip-off set for 6pm from Guthrie Center.
