Wednesday, November 21st
11:00am: A Traffic Stop was performed at ELM and 220th Street resulting in Jonathan Nault of Kansas being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”
11:48am: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.
4:59pm: Crystal Beyers reported witnessing what she believed to be Child Abuse occur in the 100 Block of West Washington Street. The officer is investigating.
7:16pm: Tim Cadden reported the Theft of Medications from his residence at 621 South Cedar Street. The officer did not locate any forced entry and is investigating.
7:27pm: Oly’s Corner reported a Gas Drive Off of $36.25. The event is under investigation by the officer.
8:13pm: Tim Cadden requested assistance in locating which facility his mother lives at in Des Moines. The officer advised him to contact DSM PD.
8:14pm: A Traffic Stop performed at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Anjelica Cruz of Grand Junction being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”
11:10pm: A caller advised of a Suspicious vehicle pulling into driveways in the area of Edgewood Drive. The officer located the vehicle, which was a newspaper delivery person.
Thursday, November 22nd
6:53am: Everett Beebe reported a suspicious vehicle pulled halfway off the roadway at Olive and Washington Streets. The officer made contact with three subjects in the vehicle. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of a 14-year-old female from Jefferson for, “Possession of Alcohol Under Legal Age.”
9:56am: An officer conducted a Traffic Stop on a vehicle who had “Failed to Obey a Stop Sign” at Elm and 220th Street. During the stop, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. During the Probable Cause Search of the vehicle, the officer located a green leafy substance. The item was seized for testing and future charges are pending.
10:17am: Barb Tuhn reported a vehicle’s bumper lying in the roadway in the 700 Block of South Chestnut Street. The officer removed the item from the roadway.
10:46am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop on a vehicle with no front plate in the 1200 Block of North Elm Street. A male stopped the vehicle in a local parking lot and began swiftly walking away from the vehicle as the officer pulled behind it. The officer caught up to the male, who advised he did not have a valid driver’s license and chose to walk away. The subject advised the rear plate on the vehicle did not belong on his car and he had stolen this plate from another vehicle. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Quirk, 36 of Jefferson for, “Theft 5th Degree – Simple, Fail to Have a Valid Driver’s License – Simple, Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple, Fail to Display Registration Plate – Simple, Fraudulent Use of Registration – Simple, and Operation without Registration – Simple.”
11:09am: Sean Martin advised a male was taking photos of his residence at 107 North Cedar Street. The male taped a note to the door before leaving the area. The note advised the house was deemed empty and the locks would be changed by the mortgage company. Martin advised there is not a mortgage on the property. The officer is attempting to reach the company and advise them they have the wrong residence.
3:08pm: A Traffic Stop at Central and North Cedar resulted in Rodney Blackmon of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
3:41pm: The Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room advised an officer of a Dog Bite patient. The officer made contact with a group at ER and learned the animal was in Jefferson visiting from Iowa City. The animal had nipped a young child family member near the eye. The animal’s owner provided the officer with current rabies vaccination paperwork. Iowa law permits an officer to have the animal’s owner conduct a 10 Day Quarantine Period at the animal’s residence in Iowa City. Since the animal is from out of town, this was permitted. The officer will follow up with the animal’s owner at the end of the 10-day period.
4:06pm: Mersadees Geigre reported Harassment by Face Book. The officer advised her to block the subject from her Social Media Accounts.
7:23pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 400 Block of West Sunset Road.
Friday, November 23rd
8:15am: Jane Millard advised of a dead deer in the yard at 804 South Elm Street, near the shoulder. The DOT was notified as this is a state highway.
8:50am: A Fire Alarm Activation came in from 204 West Harrison Street. The officer responded and learned employees were testing the system during a training.
10:52am: Chris Hallinan spoke with an officer in connection to a Civil Property Issue occurring at 403 North Pinet Street.
4:23pm: Candice Ortiz reported a vehicle parked in the 100 Block of North Chestnut Street may have a child in a car seat in the back seat. The seat has a blanket over it. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s owner in a local business and learned it was a pile of clothing in the seat, not a child.
7:23pm: Devin Burgart reported a Careless Semi Driver on Hwy. 4 heading north into Jefferson. The officer located the semi and spoke to the driver about the complaint.
Saturday, November 24th
9:11am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 500 Block of East Vest Street.
12:45pm: John Sturgeon reported a Stalled Motorist on the north side of the overpass, heading south. The officer learned the vehicle had run out of fuel and stood by for Traffic Control until fuel arrived the vehicle was removed.
1:00pm: Chris Hallinan reported receiving Harassing Text Messages from an ex-girlfriend. The officer is investigating the report.
5:37pm: A caller advised of an Open Door on a house at 300 South Pinet Street. The officer found the door did not have a door knob and could not secure it.
6:25pm: An officer removed a bat from 305 North Wilson #4.
Sunday, November 25th
7:46am: A Traffic Stop in the 600 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Michelle Christian of Rippey being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
8:34am: The Jefferson Water Department requested assistance from the PD in locating a water main break somewhere in town.
8:35am: Barry Steadman reported a neighbor parking on his yard at 405 South Chestnut Street. The officer contacted the owner and the vehicle was removed.
9:33am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical call in the 100 Block of West Washington Street.
9:47am: Delores Bravard advised a large truck had sideswiped her vehicle as she passed in in the 1700 Block of North Elm Street. Her vehicle’s side mirror had slight damage to it. She provided a license plate to the officer that came back to a motorcycle.
12:00pm: Julie Carlson reported a Lost/Stolen Wallet from a vehicle while parked in the 100 Block of West Washington Street. The wallet was located at her church a short time later.
1:50pm: A caller advised of a speeding vehicle heading north into Jefferson of Hwy. 4. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
2:55pm: Fareway reported a subject going through their garbage dumpsters at 1207 North Elm Street. The officer located the male subject and advised him the store did not want him on the property unless he was conducting business.
3:37pm: A male called and advised of a Panic Attack he was experiencing in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street. The officer could not locate the subject at his residence. They located him at ER.
3:40pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1000 Block of North Elm Street resulted in James Rice of Scranton being cited for, “Violation of Financial Liability Coverage.”
