A short road trip awaits the West Central Valley Wildcats varsity girls basketball team tonight in the opener for the 2018-19 season. The Wildcats pay a visit to Greenfield for a nonconference contest versus the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. The two teams met in last season’s opening game with the Wolverines running away with a 72-46 victory. Nodaway Valley outscored West Central Valley, 38-19, between the second and fourth quarters. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network hosted West Central Valley varsity girls basketball coach Drew Stonewall on last night’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. Stonewall said he’s hoping for maximum effort over four quarters in tonight’s opener. “We’re not a group that’s talented enough and deep enough where we can take plays off,” Stonewall said, “We don’t have that type of experience yet. Every game, every play, we’re going to have to play hard.
The 2018-19 regular season schedule starts tonight for the West Central Valley Wildcats girls basketball team against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. The varsity game tips off around 7:30 p.m. from Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield.
