Last year the Perry Booster Club rolled out the inaugural “Tinsel Trot” 5K to much success, and they’re bringing it back this weekend with a few changes.
The first change is with the date. Last year it was held in early December, but this year the Booster Club wanted it to coincide with Small Business Saturday. Another change is the starting location and the route. While last year’s event started and ended at the McCreary Community Building, this year they will take off from Raccoon Valley Bank on 2nd Street in downtown Perry. Organizers felt those two changes would work well together, so that people can support the Booster Club in the morning and then shop downtown the rest of the day to take advantage of the Small Business Saturday deals.
The event will start with check-in at 10 a.m. and the run starting at 10:30, and cost to participate is $30 for adults and $20 for students. The registration cost will include a t-shirt while supplies last. Registration can be done the day of the event, and pre-registration forms can be picked up at Perry High School and Middle School, the Chamber of Commerce office, the McCreary Center, Snap Fitness, Raccoon Valley Bank, and Perry Perk.
Additionally, participants are once again encouraged to dress up in holiday-themed costumes for the run, and there will be prizes awarded for most festive adult, student, and team. Santa will also be on hand for some photo opportunities. For more information, click the link below to visit the Perry Booster Club Facebook page.
