The local Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation recently provided a great deal of monetary aid to an Adel family in need.

John and Casey Ver Woert are members of St. John’s Church in Adel, and they are currently facing a challenging pregnancy of twins. Casey has been in the hospital recently, and will likely be there for a while longer. The Knights of Columbus in Adel, of which Casey’s father is a member, held a pancake breakfast fundraiser at the church Sunday morning, and members of the Charitable Foundation also presented the Ver Woerts with a $1,000 check.

Once all the funds donated were compiled — which also included funds raised by the Knights of Columbus council and assembly, as well as by the St. John’s parish — over $10,000 was provided to the couple. The Ver Woerts were moved by the generosity of so many people, and were especially thankful for the Adel Knights of Columbus council’s efforts.
