The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, Assistant County Attorney Thomas Laehn said he received three applications for the part-time assistant county attorney position. He mentioned he will start the interview process next week.
Also during open forum, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams voiced a concern he had about the change in health insurance. He said he has about six military veterans in the Sheriff’s office who do not qualify to receive a Health Savings Account (HSA). After the union contract is finished, that option will no longer exist and any veteran that already receives insurance through their veteran benefits can’t get an HSA. Board Chair John Muir said they will look at getting an equal option for those county employees.
The Board then heard an update from Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer. He said the Highway 4 resurfacing project has been completed from Lincoln Way to Highway 30. He also updated the three downtown buildings that the City owns.
The Board approved the County Sheriff’s quarterly report of fees for July through September of $50,103. They also approved the County Treasurer’s investment report for October of $6,396,775 and issuing 317 driver’s license last month.
Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss updated the Board on the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) project for the courthouse. He said a preliminary estimate to update the first and third floor restrooms with ventilation was $250,000. A walkthrough of the building is scheduled to happen this week with the architect firm.
