A Casey man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after a negotiated plea deal in Adair County.
According to court records, 54-year-old Ronald Gene Emgarten, who was originally charged with a felony for possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense, pled guilty to a lesser charge of possession of a controlled substance – second offense on November 16th. Emgarten must pay a $625 fine and his 90 day sentence is to be served concurrently with his 90 day jail sentence served in Guthrie County for a driving while barred offense.
The sentence stems from a traffic stop on April 8th. Emgarten was a passenger in the stopped vehicle. An officer conducted a separate search and found a bag of methamphetamine and two smoking devices in the passenger side air vents.
Emgarten was on probation when he committed the April 8th crime. His probation violation hearing is scheduled for December 3rd.
