Another season of Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball begins tonight with a new voice leading the way. Jacob Cleveland, a 2000 Waukee graduate, is less than 50 days removed from being announced as the Tigers next varsity girls basketball coach, but his impact is already felt throughout the program. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network recently sat down with multiple ADM girls basketball players to discuss several topics ahead of the 2018-19 season including thoughts on Cleveland’s coaching style. Senior guard Emma Jacobsen has enjoyed learning from Coach Cleveland so far. “He has a new outlook on our team,” Jacobsen said, “I like his fast-paced offense and all the things he’s taught us I really enjoy.”
Senior forward Kristen Baier appreciates the passion Cleveland has brought to preseason practice. “Coach Cleveland brings a lot of intensity, a lot of energy, and I think that’s exactly what our (team) needs.” Baier said, “We don’t have a lot of height, but we have a lot of speed, and I think he’s utilizing it.”
Coach Cleveland makes his ADM varsity coaching debut this evening when the Tigers begin their regular season schedule hosting the Norwalk Warriors. Catch the game on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app, beginning with pregame comments after the Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page.
