The DCH Foundation Easter Baskets from the spring

The Dallas County Hospital Foundation is once again holding their winter fundraiser for their scholarship program, and this year they’re bringing back the successful holiday basket auction.

The baskets will be created by hospital staff and Foundation Board members, and Foundation Manager Matt Crooks says there should be a wide variety to bid on this year. Crooks says they’ve had a variety of holiday offerings in the past, including wreaths, stockings, and trees, but he feels they’ve really hit on something with baskets. “Last year, one of the Board members thought that it’d be a good idea to try out baskets, because when you create a basket it doesn’t necessarily have to be holiday-specific. It could just be seasonally-specific, it could be kid-specific, (or) adult-specific. And it turned out to be a really good item for us, raising funds for our scholarships.”

Crooks says the holiday baskets will be presented at the end of November, and the bidding will run through December 20th. During that time, they will be on display at the hospital, the Perry Public Library, and at La Poste during Handlebar Happy Hour. Winners of the auctions will be notified following the close of bids so they can collect their prize. Crooks adds, there is a bit of friendly competition between the different groups that will submit baskets to see whose will fetch the highest price. He expects the offerings to be even better than last year as they try to up their game and win some bragging rights.
