Midland-PowerA Jefferson-based business recently announced its plans to expand its facilities into an existing customer-base in another county.

The Midland Power Cooperative Board of Directors approved the construction of a new administrative building in Boone. About 45-percent of the cooperative’s membership is within 20-miles of Boone. Some of the benefits of having an office location in Boone include: improved access to a large number of members and the ability to increase its workforce, drawing from Boone, Story and Greene counties. The building will be energy efficient with geothermal heating and cooling, advanced lighting and energy conservation technology.

There will be some office team staff that will transition from the Jefferson building to Boone, however, both the power line operations and customer services will be maintained in Jefferson. A location for the facility has yet to be determined and construction is anticipated to begin next spring.
