The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office continues to keep its vehicle fleet updated, and recently they were approved for two more purchases.

The Board of Supervisors approved requests to purchase a 2019 Dodge Durango and 2019 Dodge Charger, which will both serve as pursuit vehicles for Sheriff’s Deputies. The purchases were both scheduled replacements of current vehicles, which were traded in to decrease the overall budget hit. The Durango also represents the second vehicle in a continued shift by the Sheriff’s Office, as they have been moving away from the Ford Explorers that currently make up most of their utility fleet.

Both vehicles come from Stew Hansen’s Dodge in Des Moines, with the Durango purchased for $23,804 and Charger for $18,864, both after trade-in. The purchases were both scheduled line items on the Sheriff’s Office budget.
