The teachers and staff in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District have recently received a great deal of recognition, and the administration is pleased to announce their accomplishments.

First of all, Adel Elementary and DeSoto Intermediate School Counselor Kinzee Bryte was named the 2018 Iowa Elementary School Counselor of the Year by the Iowa School Counselor Association. Bryte, who has been with the District for the last three years, has a total of 13 years experience as a counselor. She has introduced programs such as classroom guidance lessons, small group counselling, and “flipped learning” over the last couple years. She said she was humbled to receive the honor, and was thankful for the District giving her the support she needs to reach the students effectively.

Next, ADM High School Art Teacher Jane Clowser, who was last year’s gifted and talented education teacher, was recognized at the University of Iowa’s Belin-Blank Center with the Educator Award for Outstanding Achievement. She said it was an honor to be acknowledged for her work with gifted students by a well-respected organization. Clowser has worked with Belin-Blank to offer her students opportunities in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field, as well as several other programs offered by the U of I.

Finally, the ADM Class of 2018 was recently revealed as having the highest composite ACT score in the District’s history, coming in at 24.4. The score beat the previous mark of 23.9, set by the class of 2014. The overall state average is 21.8. The ADM administration was pleased with the success of the students, and proud of the work by the teachers to get them ready for life after high school.
