Another wrinkle has come up in the upcoming trials of Marc and Misty Ray of Perry for their involvement in the death of their adopted daughter Sabrina, as the other adopted children of the couple will testify without having to be in the courtroom.
The three minor witnesses in the case will each be questioned via closed circuit television, so they won’t have to face their adoptive parents while offering their testimony. The arrangement was agreed upon by both prosecuting and defense attorneys, as they each wanted to be delicate in handling the questioning of children. The trial is set to commence on February 4, 2019, and will be held at the Woodbury County Courthouse in Sioux City, where it was moved after a change of venue request by the defense.
Another witness for the prosecution will be Josie Bousman, the niece of Misty Ray, who agreed to testify against the couple prior to her own trial for her part in the death of Sabrina Ray. Marc and Misty Ray are being tried on 17 and 15 counts, respectively, relating to the May 12, 2017 death of their adopted daughter, 16-year-old Sabrina. The teen was found dead in the Ray’s home in Perry, having suffered from severe malnutrition. Justin Ray and Carla Bousman, Sabrina’s adoptive brother and grandmother have already been sentenced to 10 and 20 years in prison, respectively, for their roles in Sabrina’s death.
