A driver was cited after a single vehicle wreck west of Yale Sunday evening.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 6 p.m. 16-year-old Jon Thomas Buttler of Yale was driving a Buick Century north on Highway 4 near the intersection with 160th Road. Buttler had intended to turn east onto 160th, and he said he didn’t realize he was at 160th as it was dark and raining. Buttler attempted to turn and slid off the roadway striking a stop sign and a utility pole. No injuries were reported and Buttler was charged with failure to maintain control. Damage to the Alliant Energy pole was estimated at $6,000 and at $150 for the stop sign.
