Guthrie County 4-H is taking part in a statewide fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.
4-H members are collecting pop tabs to raise money for the charity which houses and provides resources for families with sick children. The fundraiser is being done in remembrance of Jacy McAlexander, son of Guthrie County Extension’s Youth Program Specialist Earl McAlexander and a Calhoun County 4-H member who died of Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Guthrie County Extension Program Coordinator Krista Downing explains why they are taking part in the fundraiser, “Well, we’re honoring Jacy in his remembrance. I know the Guthrie County 4-H members have been involved in the Ronald McDonald House. They’ve gone up and volunteered their time and so just to be able to collect these pop tabs to help the families out more would be a really great thing.”
Pop tabs can be donated to any Guthrie County 4-H group or dropped off at the Extension office in Guthrie Center. The collection lasts through February 9th.
