The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
First on the agenda was the latest update on the progress of the new law enforcement center from the Samuels Group. A representative of the construction manager said crews have been battling the weather for most of October, but still made good progress and are still on track to be finished by October of next year. The Board also approved the latest pay application, which included payments to 11 contractors for a total of $853,014.69. The Samuels Group also mentioned that there’s still more than $600,000 in the contingency fund, which is good for this stage of the project.
Later in the meeting, the Board also approved an amended water usage agreement with Xenia Rural Water for the law enforcement center. The County was able to make some changes approved by Xenia, which would give the facility priority when it comes to emergency water situations. Other items approved included: abatement of mobile home and real estate taxes; the purchase of .94 acres from the Voas Wetland Mitigation Bank; and the purchase of two new pursuit vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office. Finally, the Board tabled a decision on a 28E agreement and bylaw amendments for the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
