The high school football season is over for the Greene County Rams and final season statistics are now compiled. We look today at some of the offensive numbers. Coach Mitch Moore’s team went from 1-8 last year to 8-1 in the regular season this year, qualified for the Class 2A playoffs and finished with an 8-2 record. Greene County averaged 405 yards per game and scored an average of 37.5 per contest.
There was a good mix between run and pass with 2,266 yards gained passing and 1,807 on the ground. Junior quarterback Brent Riley did most of the throwing. He had, 2,242 of the yards, 22 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions, and 135 completions on 260 attempts (51.9%). Freshman Joe Carey was one for one throwing the ball for 15 yards and a TD. Senior Clint Dennhardt was 1-3-0 through the air for nine yards, and junior Carter Morton’s only pass attempt was incomplete.
On the ground, Dennhardt led the way with 851 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged 6.8 yards per carry on 126 attempts. Junior Colby Kafer ran the ball 109 times for 776 yards (7.1 average) and eight TDs. Junior Joel Ward added 154 yards on 27 carries (5.7 ave.) and two touchdowns, while Morton had 10 yards on two carries, and Riley had 20 rushing attempts for negative eight yards because of quarterback sacks.
