Next week the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a special event to commemorate the Greene County Community Center.

The structure is turning 20-years-old this year and an event will be held on Friday, November 16th from 3 to 10pm. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner says there will be an obstacle course and beach volleyball going on in the gym starting at 3. A free-will donation meal will be served from 5:30 to 7pm, provided by Hy-Vee and the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association. Wells Fargo Bank is sponsoring a free showing of Disney’s Mulan starting at 7pm, with the Jefferson Kiwanis Aktion Club serving free popcorn. There will also be a drawing for a free membership to the community center.

Lautner not only invites everyone to check-out the festivities on the 16th, but she adds that the public can get involved in another way too.

“Any pictures that people might want to share, we’ll be glad to add them. We would like to do some sort of a slide(show) that we can put on the televisions at the rec center and be projecting that all day long.”

Pictures can be dropped off anytime at the community center.
