Election Day is this Tuesday, but for voters wanting to get a jump on things, you can still vote early. The Dallas County Auditor’s Office is even making it a little easier by having open hours today.
From 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. today, voters can stop by the Auditor’s Office building in Adel to cast their ballots for the 2018 midterm general election. As a reminder, you will need to bring photo identification to the polls, as well as proof of residency if you’re registering at the Office. Accepted forms of photo ID include driver’s license, passport, and military ID, and proof of residence can be something like a utility bill or bank statement. After today, the last time to vote early will be Monday at the Auditor’s Office, and they will be open between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm reports that as of Friday, more than 14,000 people had voted early or by absentee, which represents about 25% of registered voters in the County. She also says they’ve received around 80% of absentee ballots sent out.
At this point, it’s too late to request a mailed absentee ballot, but those who have already requested and received them have until Monday to mail them in. If you plan on voting on Election Day, Helm reminds you to double check your precinct and polling location.
