halloween1Tonight a number of communities in Greene County are having their respective Beggars’ Night.

Jefferson’s suggested time is 5:30 to 7:30pm. Police Chief Mark Clouse reminds parents and guardians of some ways that their child’s costume should be easily seen by motorists.

“Most parents, I think, work well trying to a little light clipped on maybe the bag that they’re carrying their candy in (or) maybe a little flashing light. Or just something bright colors and reflective just so they can be seen by motorists.”

Clouse adds that motorists should take extra precaution when backing out of driveways during the suggested Beggars’ Night times and those handing out candy should have their front porch lights on so that trick-or-treaters know to stop by for candy.

Other communities in Greene County having their Beggars’ Night tonight include the City of Rippey from 5 to 7pm with the library to serve snacks and treats starting at 4. Scranton will also have their Beggars’ Night from 5 to 7pm.
