Halloween is a pretty big deal in Perry, and there’s not much bigger than the downtown candy feast known as Spooktacular.
This year hundreds upon hundreds of kids and families paraded down 2nd Street between Willis Avenue and Pattee Street for treats and information. The event was once again organized by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, and they felt the good weather contributed to it being one of the better events in recent memory. All along the street there were businesses lined up to give candy to the kids and information on what they have to offer to the adults. There was also performances on the street by Showtime Dance and Tumbling Studio, and the First Christian Church “Trunk-or-Treat” along Lucinda Street.
The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio was also in attendance, playing some Halloween favorites and providing both candy and public address services. Spooktacular was followed by the citywide trick-or-treating for Beggar’s Night.
