Starting now and running through Friday, the City of Adel and Accujet will be working on the annual sanitary sewer cleaning project.
The cleaning will take place in the southwestern portion of Adel, but City staff says there should be little disruption to residents, if any. The exception is if a house’s plumbing doesn’t have proper ventilation. In those rare cases, citizens could see air pressure escaping through toilets, tubs, or shower drains, which may cause water to splash out. Conversely, a vacuum could draw the water out of fixture traps, causing an unpleasant odor. If you’re worried about this possibility, the City advises you to take the following steps: cover all floor drains with plastic and place weight on the plastic; cover all toilets with plastic and put the seat down; and run water into each drain to refill traps if you smell an odor.
The project is expected to be wrapped up by Friday. Anyone with questions about the Adel sewer cleaning project is encouraged to reach out to Accujet at 515-601-0288.
