The Friends of the Perry Public Library hosted the latest event in their Trivia with Friends series, welcoming a wide assortment of trivia buffs to La Poste Thursday evening.

Coined “Spooktacular Trivia,” the event had a Halloween flair to it, including a costume contest at the intermission. Nine teams competed in eight rounds of trivia, with categories ranging from Star Wars to Famous Monsters, and there were even two rounds that provided snacks that doubled as questions for participants. Raccoon Valley Radio Program Director Chris Cohea served as the emcee for the event, and in the end it was the team named “Library Jack-O-Lanterns” that emerged victorious in the trivia competition.

As far as the costume contest was concerned, Jamie Kelley of Boone won the top prize for his impressive Deadpool outfit. Five other prizes were also awarded to participants who were in the Halloween spirit. All the proceeds raised from the event will go towards the Friends group, which helps to fund programs at the Perry Library. The next Trivia with Friends contest will be held in March around St. Patrick’s Day.
