The first football playoff game for Greene County since 2013 is tomorrow night when the Rams travel east on Highway 30 to Van Horne to face the Benton Community Bobcats. Both teams are 8-1 and both are top 10 rated. One poll has Benton number 4 and the Rams number 7, while another has Greene County fourth and Benton fifth. Both offenses are potent, both defenses are stingy, and both have good kicking games.
Greene County head coach Mitch Moore gives us a glimpse at the Bobcats. “They have a really good running back. He’s a tough, downhill guy, who is strong and likes contact. He runs through contact. They’ve got a quarterback who’s pretty athletic (66.0% pass completion rate), and they have two tight ends that they’ll use in motion, and shift and trade sometimes. They look like a team on offense that looks to play inside the box. They like to play downhill and it will be a physical match up for us.” Benton averaged over 35 points a game.
Coach Moore added the Bobcats have two defensive tackles that could be the best the Rams have seen all season. Benton’s defense is allowing under 16 points per contest.
The Rams score 39 points per game on average, while giving up less than nine.
