The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, the Board discussed the ambulance service situation. Board Chair John Muir noted that a couple of board members met with Greene County Medical Center officials about the issue. There were preliminary talks about putting together a 28E agreement and possibly having each of the cities contribute $5 per capita to help pay for an ambulance service. Muir added a soft deadline for a solution would be the end of the calendar year for budgetary purposes.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams then addressed the Board. He said he will make a formal request at a future Board meeting to hire another full time jailer. He said the position was needed due to the time and expense of having deputies make transport calls to take inmates to other jail facilities, due to the county jail constantly being full.
Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers also spoke to the Board during open forum. He said a new park ranger had been hired for Spring Lake Park. Joe Allen will take over starting November 3rd. Towers then talked about a proposal from Lakeside Golf Course. He said they approached the county about taking over ownership of the golf course. Towers indicated that he wasn’t excited about the idea, however, he said he would investigate it.
The Board then approved hiring Linnette Sondgeroth at $16 per hour for temporary part-time custodian help in the courthouse. Finally, they approved to transfer $569,075 from rural to secondary roads department as part of the first-time of budgetary funding.
