Devil has Consent

With Halloween on the horizon, two libraries in Dallas County will be presenting a program about a chilling time in American History.

Tomorrow, the Perry Public Library will welcome local educator and historian Kathy Wilson, who will present a program called “The Devil has My Consent.” Perry Library Director Mary Murphy explains what Wilson will cover in her presentation, which is a story almost too bizarre to believe. “It’s about troubling times in our nation’s history, and focusing on the Salem witch trials. When you read about history, it doesn’t come alive to you sometimes until you get a portrayal, or a play, or something that you say, ‘People did this? People acted like this?’ So I think history has lessons for all of us!”

The day after the program is presented in Perry, Wilson will head south to show it at the Adel Public Library. On both occasions, it’s free to attend and no registration is required. The program at the Perry Library will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the large meeting room, and the one at the Adel Library will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the community room.
