Minor injuries were the result of a rear-end wreck in Dallas Center Monday afternoon.

According to the crash report from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, a deputy responded to the crash near the T-intersection of 12th Street and Sugar Grove Avenue around 3:10pm. The report shows 31-year-old Taylor Meriah of Indianola was traveling west on Sugar Grove Avenue when she slowed down her 2014 Ford Escape, due to a vehicle in front of her that was going to turn south onto 12th Street. Meriah’s Escape was then rear-ended by a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox that was driven by 55-year-old Susan Renfrow of Adel.

The airbags in Renfrow’s Equinox deployed and both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck. Renfrow was taken to Mercy Medical Center with possible neck pain by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services. Meriah was uninjured. The report shows that Renfrow didn’t see the Escape had slowed down, due to looking in the back seat at her four-year-old passenger, who was also uninjured from the wreck.

The Equinox was estimated to be a total loss, while the Escape sustained $5,000 in damages. Renfrow was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.
