Bock Foundation Fall 2018 1

The Bock Family Foundation presented their fall grant awards Monday afternoon, giving out more than $56,000 to several local nonprofit organizations.

The presentation was conducted by Scott Finneseth, the Executive Director of the Foundation, and he got it started by explaining its history and the process of selecting grants to be awarded. He said during this cycle they received 22 applications from worthy groups, but in the end they narrowed it down to 19. Some of the bigger checks handed out included: $3,500 to the Perry Police Department for automated external defibrillators for patrol cars; $3,500 to the Perry Ministerial Association for their Good Samaritan Fund; $4,000 for the Dallas County Hospital Foundation for a vein illuminator device; $5,000 to Dallas County Habitat for Humanity for a home ownership opportunity; $6,000 to Dallas County Conservation for phase two of the connector trail project; and $6,500 to the Perry Area Child Development Center for scholarships.

The biggest grant of the night was once again to Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) program, which received $8,500 to help fund them for another year. PACES Director Mary Hillman accepted the grant, saying she’s had a great relationship with the Bock Foundation since its inception in 2002. Each recipient was thankful to the Foundation for helping fund their projects. All total, there was $56,078 awarded to the 19 organizations. Finneseth added, since the Foundation began they’ve given out more than $1.8 million. They award grants twice a year, in the spring and fall, and the deadline for the spring cycle is March 1, 2019.
