With a change in head coaches, several students at Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools decided to go out for the Tiger varsity football team this fall. Senior Andrew Flora, last winter’s Class 2A 113 pound individual wrestling champion, was among the notable additions to this year’s squad. He was named one of ADM’s four senior captains this fall, starting all nine regular-season football games as a cornerback on the Tigers defense. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with Flora and the rest of the ADM senior football captains after their week eight victory over the Winterset Huskies. Flora shared it was fellow classmate Nolan Harsh who convinced him to come out. “We’ve followed each other since we knew each other and we’ve stuck with each other no matter what we do,” Flora said, “It’s the best decision I ever made. I love the guys, I love the coaches, and I’m so glad I went out (for football).”
Flora tied for the team lead with two interceptions and finished fifth on ADM’s team with 38.5 total tackles, and one tackle for loss. His efforts helped ADM make a five-win improvement from a season ago. Flora is among 12 ADM seniors who played their final game in a Tiger uniform last Friday in Council Bluffs, falling 52-7 to the top-ranked Lewis Central Titans.
