A Grand Junction man faces felony drug charges following a couple of recent incidents in Greene County.
According to court documents, 43-year-old Travis Fincel is charged with two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and two simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia. One of the incidents occurred on May 12th when a Jefferson Police Officer pulled Fincel’s vehicle over for a non-working license plate display light. The officer found out that Fincel was driving with a suspended license and he was then arrested. Due to there not being another valid driver in the vehicle, Fincel’s truck was towed to the City’s impound lot.
Officers did an inventory of the vehicle and found a bag in a toolbox that contained a glass smoking device with burnt residue and a small vial with a white powdered substance. Test results came back positive for meth. A warrant for his arrest was then issued on September 18th.
Then, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy was in Grand Junction Sunday and saw Fincel on his lawn at his residence. The deputy knew about the warrant and told Fincel that he was going to be arrested. When asked if he had anything on his person that he shouldn’t, Fincel allegedly indicated that he had dope on him and that it belonged to him. The deputy found a grey pouch with a glass pipe and a baggie with a crystalline substance. As he was being booked into the Greene County Jail, the items were field tested and the results were positive for meth.
Court documents show that Fincel has been twice convicted of possession of meth including: once in Delaware County in 2002 and again in Boone County in 2004. Fincel was booked and released on his own recognizance from jail. Court documents show that he waived his preliminary hearing.
