Guthrie Center residents are invited to help support the renovation of a downtown building at an upcoming harvest dinner.

Main Street Guthrie Center is hosting a pulled pork dinner to raise funds for the reconstruction of the three business fronts in the Williams Building and new canopies for the facade. MSGC Director Dana Buster says they hope to have this work completed in the next few months for the offices occupied by optometrist Dr. Kyle Stalder and Genesis Development, and an unoccupied space. After that phase is completed MSGC plans to renovate the second and third floor apartments that are unoccupied. Buster explains why residents should support the project by attending the harvest dinner, “It is just important to save these old buildings. The Williams Building is a very big building and so that’s kind of why Main Street took it on because it is a big project for maybe just an individual to try to take on, on their own. And we want to make sure that the Williams Building, because it is kind of the biggest building in our downtown, that it receive the attention it needs.”

The pulled pork dinner will take place on Wednesday October 24th from 5-7 p.m. at the Guthrie Activity Center. Baked beans, coleslaw, chips, and pie will also be served with a freewill donation accepted. To-go orders will be available. For more information, or to reserve a meal, call 641-332-2674.
