Flood conditions continue in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area today, though no rain is forecasted in the coming days.
Currently the Raccoon River is above flood stage near Perry, where it’s at 17.25 feet, and near Bayard where it sits at 14.59 feet. The flood stage for those areas is 15 and 14 feet, respectively. The good news is the water levels have fallen at both spots in the last 24 hours, and there’s no report of road closures due to flooding in either area. The same cannot be said for the Raccoon River north of Adel, as the bridge on Highway 169 is still closed by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
There is a detour in place, though it’s not the one motorists are used to. Because of a patching project on Dallas County Road P58, the current detour is to take Highway 6 east from Adel, CR R22 north near Waukee, and then Highway 44 west to 169. Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to keep you updated on the current flooding situation.
