acgcA historic beginning to the newest Guthrie County football rivalry saw the postseason possibilities continue for Panorama. The Panthers took advantage of three ACGC fumbles and cruised past the Chargers in a 42-8 victory in Panora.

The Panthers got off to a good start with a Luke South rushing touchdown from four yards out on their opening possession. The Chargers responded with a rushing touchdown of their own later in the first quarter, courtesy of senior Gabe Rowley, to take an 8-7 lead. ACGC’s only lead lasted twelve seconds as Zach Rizzutti returned the kickoff 89 yards to the end zone. Panorama’s Trey Cobb would add a rushing touchdown to make it 21-8 at the half.

The Panthers blew the game open after recovering an onside kick to begin the second half. Panorama scored three more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to seal the deal and give them a much-needed victory for their hopes of a winning season. South threw for 93 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown to lead the Panthers.

The one bright spot for ACGC was another 100-yard rushing game for senior Ben Kingery. The Panthers improve to 4-4 (1-3), while the Chargers fall to 3-5 (2-2). Panorama will head to Stuart next week for Guthrie County Showdown round three against the West Central Valley Wildcats. The Chargers end their season at Mt. Ayr.
