From ISU women’s basketball tickets, to a homemade pie, a variety of items will be up for bid this coming week for a local fundraiser.
The Stuart Library Foundation is hosting their seventh annual fundraising auction and there are new additions for this year’s event. Besides the traditional live auction, a silent auction will run from Monday October 15th through 8 p.m. Thursday October 18th during the live auction. There is also a new item category for Stuart memorabilia. Stuart Library Director Lisa Sherman comments on the items they’ve received, “I had no idea what we would get and I’m pretty excited about [it]. We’ve got a couple jackets, those you can see right now in the window of my office. We’ve got all kinds of Stuart businesses in the past, some of their giveaways that they had, so that’s kind of exciting.”
The Stuart Library Foundation holds the auction to raise funds for new library books, and Sherman says last year nearly $7,500 was raised. Sherman expresses the impact this fundraiser has had, “It’s been incredible, from the books we’re able to purchase or maybe the programs that we provide. The summer reading program, there was one that the foundation paid for and it brought in 135 people, it was wonderful.”
The silent auction lasts from Monday through Thursday with the live auction taking place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library. Those wishing to bid by proxy or want more information can contact Sherman at 515-523-2152.
