It’s been five years since a Greene County High School football team played in Red Oak. The Rams won then and they hope to get in the victory column tonight in a Class 2A District 9 contest. Tonight’s winning team keeps playoff hopes alive while the losing team likely drops out of playoff contention.
Coach Mitch Moore’s Rams are 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the district while the Tigers are also 2-1 in district play, but 4-3 overall. As far as the playoffs go, Coach Moore relayed to Raccoon Valley Radio what he told his team. “I told the team this week, I believe between Red Oak, OABCIG (Ida Grove), Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and us, the two teams that both go 2-0 the next two weeks, in my opinion, will make the playoffs. All four lie between nine and 17 in the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index). All that means for us is that this game is of utmost importance. Red Oak has been our entire focus all week, and it will remain that way until this game is finished tonight.
Game time is 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
