High School football’s regular season is quickly coming to an end and tonight is the final home game for the Panorama Panthers. The Panthers welcome the AC/GC Chargers to Panorama Stadium for their first competitive meeting since the consolidation of the Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center school districts. The Panthers and Chargers both post 3-4 overall records but are heading in opposite directions. The Panthers have lost three straight games since starting the season 3-1, while the Chargers are 3-2 following back to back losses to begin the season. Panorama head football coach Mike Kauzlarich joined the Guthrie County PM Sports Page Monday to preview the Panthers senior night game, and he believes tonight is the beginning of another Guthrie County rivalry. “We’re all Guthrie County Schools, and obviously they’re up and coming,” Kauzlarich said, “They’ve been playing really well lately so should be an exciting atmosphere and an exciting game.”

AC/GC’s resurgence comes under first-year head coach Cody Matthewson. The 2009 Madrid graduate won two Division II National Championships as a member of the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats football team and has installed a wishbone offense similar to the one he ran in high school. The Chargers ratio of run plays to pass plays is nearly 21:1 with starting quarterback Bryce Littler throwing 16 times all season. AC/GC scored 26 unanswered points last Friday to defeat the West Central Valley Wildcats, 26-8.
