Don’t forget, this evening is the annual Dallas County Relay for Life event at Perry High School, and there’s still time for teams to sign up to participate.

Because of rain in the forecast, the event is being moved from the track to the gymnasium. Registration will start at 2 p.m., with the opening ceremony set to begin at 4 p.m. This year’s Honorary Survivor is Kirk VanKirk, and he will give a speech to the attendees. Following that, there will be the survivor, caregiver, and team laps. The survivor and community dinner will be served at 5 p.m., and it is free to any cancer survivors in attendance. The walking portion of the event will run from 5-9, with several themed laps along the way. There will also be music, games, a silent auction, and other fundraisers throughout the evening.

By 8 p.m., the silent auction and luminary bag sales will end. The Luminaria will begin at 9 p.m., followed by the “Fight Back,” and closing ceremonies. All proceeds from the event will go towards the American Cancer Society for cancer research. Make sure to listen to Raccoon Valley Radio on Monday for a full recap of this year’s Dallas County Relay for Life event, including pictures.
