There are a few youth programs coming up with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

A new program called Strength and Pace will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 9th through December 12th for sixth graders from 3:30 to 5pm at the Greene County Community Center. Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says the class costs $15 and will help young kids strengthen muscles, while developing conditioning skills through cycling, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), bootcamp and bodyweight exercise, plus lots more.

Lautner also says an ongoing new program, “Bring Your Own Chromebook (BYOC)” is $5 and runs until December 19th. She points out that there’s no set programs, just a safe place for teens to use the community center’s public wifi system. “We’re just offering them a place to come in. We will set up the middle room, which used to be the old preschool room, and we’ll set up tables and chairs up in there. And they’re welcomed to come in there and kind of away from everybody else and they can do whatever they want to do (on their Chromebook).”

Call or stop by the community center to learn more about these program or any upcoming youth and adult programs with Jefferson Parks and Rec.
